An Adventure
I love days like yesterday. In the morning, when Mary went down for a nap, Tyrus and I hit the road and got a bunch of errands done. Among other things, we bought Ty a new pair of tennis shoes. I begged him not to choose the stark white ones, but he insisted since they have a firetruck on them. Sigh.
When we got home Neil took a shower, we fed Mary, and then we hit the road for an adventure. I love times like these. When it is just the four of us in our little van with a bag full of snacks, a camera, and a sippy cup of milk. We headed south towards Indian Springs. We really enjoy it down there. Ty loved to throw rocks in the lake. Grandpa showed him how to do this at Christmas time and he remembers it every time we get close to the park. We also hit up our favorite little candy shop in downtown Indian Springs. They make the best fudge!! I mean, it is our responsibility to keep the small businesses prospering, right? It was my duty to buy fudge. :)
After Indian Springs we headed over the High Falls State Park. I had been promising Tyrus a waterfall everyday and he kept reminding me that we had not seen a waterfall yet. He was really impressed with High Falls. It was nice to walk around and feel the breeze from the water blow through our hair.
When we left High Falls and headed home we stopped off at a truck stop to buy Tyrus an icee (his new favorite). We got lucky when the parking lot was full of all kinds of construction trucks and Tyrus got to admire them. We had to explain to one gentleman that the reason our van was driving around the parking lot like crazy was because we had a 3 year old in the backseat directing us to what truck he wanted to look at next. He completely understood and told us to enjoy. While we were waiting on our icee we got the crazy idea that since we had had such a great day so far lets not let it end so soon - let's go to the Choo Choo Park!! Tyrus was so excited!! He was even more excited when we called Walker to see if he wanted to go and his Mama said he could!
So, we finished our day with a trip to the Choo Choo Park with Melissa, Josh, Walker, and Aden. The boys had so much fun playing together and our babies were exhausted by the time we got home. They both actually nodded off in the car. When we got home Neil put Tyrus in the bathtub and I rocked Mary to sleep. It was a perfect day with my family.
