The Monday after Christmas the kids and I loaded up the van and made the LONG haul to Raleigh, NC to see The Schroeder Family. I had the last week of the year off and toyed with ideas on what we were going to do. I wanted to go see Shanna, but I was really dreading the drive up there. So, about a week out I decided that we were absolutely going to leave to go up there. I told myself the entire week that we would leave Monday morning and it would take all day to get there. That way I didn't feel pressure to get there in a hurry. Neil bought us a new DVD player for the trip, which made it a lot easier. The kids did GREAT! I couldn't have asked for better behavior. We stopped every couple of hours to potty and get treats and that made the trip so much easier. They got to stretch their legs and go potty and they also go to look forward to their next treat. Neither one of them slept the entire way there until we were about an hour away and hit traffic. It took us an hour to drive 4 miles. Mary, bless her heart, finally gave up and fell asleep. Tyrus, on the other hand, was way too excited to see Lucas and couldn't sleep.
