Casa De Tyrus

I thought that Decorating would be so much fun, but I've actually found that it stresses me out a little bit. Not so much the action of putting a room into place, but deciding on what to do. I have thrown ideas around about Ty's room for months and FINALLY have it finished with the exception of a picture on the wall (already purchased) and hanging the curtains (already purchased).
I wanted Tyrus to be a big part in decorating his new room. There have been a lot of discussions about what he wants and a lot of "vetos" from Neil and myself. The first one came when Ty said he wanted to paint his room orange. No. The second one came when he said he wanted to paint his room black. I actually thought it would be cool, but Neil put a real quick stop to that one. FINALLY he said green and we ran with it. Now, what color green? We looked at so many paint samples over the last few weeks. Every time we were at Wal-Mart or Lowe's I would ask him what he thought, but we never just went with it and bought anything. Then, the other night, we were at Target and saw the PERFECT bedspread. We bought it on the spot and then a few days later bought paint for it. We have been tweaking it for about a week now, but here is the final product...



Where did we get the bunk bed? Well, I first have to say that Neil worked his little but off sanding and painting a twin bed that my Uncle gave us for Tyrus. I really wanted it to match his dresser that Neil worked so hard on when we were still pregnant with Tyrus. He finally finished the bed and then he went on an estimate and this lady just gave us this bunkbed!! Seriously!! Sometimes there are perks to the moving business!!



This lamp matches the print on his bedspread and the car bean bag matches the car on the bedspread. The piggy bank is the one that we were given for his nursery when we were still pregnant. We couldn't get rid of everything Georgia! The cones are something that Tyrus picked out himself when he and Dada went to Lowe's the other day...



I seriously thought about asking Neil to sand and paint the bunk bed black to match the dresser. This dresser means so much to me because it was my Great Grandmother's and it was yellow. Neil worked SOOOOOOO hard on it to make it look like this and Tyrus will have it forever. Neil laughed at me when I mentioned painting the bed black, but I know he would have done it if I really wanted him too. Now that it is all put together I kinda like the contrast.

From this view you can see where the painting will go - off centered on the wall behind the lamp and above the bean bag. You can also picture the blue curtains hanging to just above the floor. I just have to find curtain rods now.
