Awesome Friends And A Pretty Cool Husband
We had an exciting Sunday morning. We decided on Saturday night that we would go to the early service at church so I woke up at 7:00 and started to get ready. The service starts at 9:00 and we usually leave at 8:40 to get there in time to drop Mary off at nursery. We all woke up and got dressed with no worries. Mary was in the cutest little outfit and Tyrus looked very handsome in his button down shirt and shorts. I wish I would have taken a picture of them, but I didn't. Anyways, we loaded the babies up in the car. They had drinks and something to eat. However, once we got our seat belts fastened the van wouldn't start. It was making this funny noise when you tried to turn it over. The first thing that Neil did was try to jump it off with the Buick. That didn't work so he knew that it wasn't the battery. I don't even know where to begin to jump a car off so I would have been stranded when it didn't crank. Neil, however, never panics. I got the kids out of the car and took them inside because it was starting to get hot. I called Melissa to tell her that we wouldn't be at the early service because the van wouldn't crank. Her response..."I can't let a cute Mary dress go to waste so I'll come pick you and the kids up." Yay!!! Tyrus was already a little disappointed because I told him we may not be able to go to church. This was the perfect solution because Neil could concentrate on the car and we could go to church. Thanks Melissa!!!!! Josh took their boys in his truck and Melissa picked us up in her car. I love living close to friends! We ended up making it to 10:00 Sunday School and the 11:00 service. When Melissa dropped us off at home Neil had fixed the van!! Don't ask me to explain what it was. He told me, but I don't think I was listening or maybe it just didn't register. Something about something being loose. I have no idea. But he fixed it!! It really comes in handy being married to a handy man. I love this about him!
Church was great as always. In Sunday School we talked about making our homes a place where kids can come with their concerns. No matter how small their concerns are...they are probably huge in their world. We all spoke about what we could do to make our home a safe haven for them. I spoke about how I am guilty of multi-tasking and maybe I should put the laundry down sometimes and listen to Tyrus. I'm really guilty of that. I'm not saying my house is always clean, no where near it, but I am guilty of trying to get so many things done at once. Yesterday, after church, I was doing it again. Mary was asleep and I was rushing around trying to get clothes put away and folded. Tyrus was watching T.V. in our bed. I was sitting on the floor and Tyrus looked over the edge of the bed and said, "Mama, want to come take a rest with me?" I think God was testing me on what I said at church. I immediately put the towels down and crawled into bed with him. I so enjoyed holding him for a few minutes.
All in all, thanks to awesome friends and a pretty cool husband, we had a great Sunday and I actually got to utilize what we talked about in Sunday School.
