Bad Morning
Tyrus and I started off in a bad way this morning. Well, actually it started off okay, but by the time I left for work he was crying and I was upset to leave because I thought he was mad at me. He woke when I woke up. He does this most mornings since he comes and gets in the bed with us in the middle of the night. I went down to get something to eat. I do this every morning. I get him something to eat and he sits in the bed and watches cartoons while I get ready. However, this morning I guess I was taking too long downstairs. He came downstairs tired and grouchy and refused to speak in a whisper. I was worried that he would wake Mary up since the kitchen is beneath her bedroom. I went back and forth with him until he opened up the freezer, looking for a waffle, and knocked the shelf off the wall making everything (and the shelf) fall and hit the floor of the kitchen in a VERY loud crash. I grabbed him out of the way and sat him on the floor and this upset him so much that he started SCREAMING at the top of his lungs, eyes closed, tears rolling down his face. After I put the freezer back together, calmed Tyrus down, went back upstairs, and got dressed, it was time to leave for work. I told Tyrus I had to leave and this upset him again. He was crying and he followed me downstairs crying telling me not to go. He does this most mornings too, although not as dramatic as this morning. As I was backing out of the driveway I pushed the garage door control to close the garage and he was standing in the door to the kitchen watching me pull off - crying. This scene BROKE MY HEART and I thought about Tyrus all morning. I called Neil at 9:00, but he didn't answer. So, I called him on my lunch break and asked to speak to Tyrus:
Neil: "Ty, its Mama - she wants to talk to you."
Ty: "Oh, okay."
shuffling as Neil hands Ty the phone...
Ty: "Hey Mama!" (In the happiest tone - like nothing ever happened)
Me: "Hey Baby - I love you so much!!"
Ty: "I love you too Mama!"
Me: "What are you doing?"
Ty: "I'm at the park. I'm gonna run and rip Mama!"
Me: "Okay. Well, have fun Baby. I'll see you when I get home from work."
Ty: "Okay. You have fun too!"
All morning I was so worried that I had hurt Tyrus. I was aching to talk to him to tell him how much I loved him. He didn't even remember.
NOTE: "Run and Rip" is a "Grandpa-ism". It is something that my Dad used to say to us when we were little and now I say it to Ty and Mary. It just means run like crazy and play.

It can be so hard to leave them when they are begging you to stay! I went through this for a couple of months with Samantha. It was never bad for Sabrina. It's so funny how quickly they bounce back.
