Tyrus, Tyrus, Tyrus...
Tyrus Benjamin had a very interesting weekend doing two things that he had never done before both of which Neil and I are still laughing about.
Friday Night: Neil and I put Tyrus to bed at the usual time and made the usual deal that he could watch one episode on his T.V. and then we would be in to turn it off. Tyrus very rarely stays in his bed during this time and we can often hear him playing in his room trying to squeeze as much playtime out of the day as possible. Well, this particular night was no different. After about 45 minutes Neil got up to go downstairs and on his way stopped by Ty's room to check on him and turn his T.V. off. I was half asleep, but when he opened the door I heard Neil say, "What the heck are you doing?" I didn't know what to think, but I didn't worry too much. Then Neil came into our room and said, "Jenn, I hate to wake you up, but if you don't actually see this then you will never believe me." I get up and walked into his room and I say, "What the heck are you doing!" Tyrus had pulled the middle drawer partially out of his dresser and attempted to use it as a step to climb on top of his dresser. However, the distance between that drawer and the top of his dresser was too high and he got stuck. That's NOT the funniest part...at some point during this little adventure he had rolled over onto his back and was hyper extended partially across the top of it. The incredibly sad part is that he had tears running down his cheeks because he couldn't get down. I should probably also mention that he didn't have any underwear on at this point. We have no idea how long he was stuck up there, but our idea is that he didn't scream out because he was scared he would get in trouble. Neil rescued him and we put him in his bed. He was really scared so he didn't share any of the details with us that night, but when Neil got him up the next morning they had this conversation:
Neil: "Buddy, what were you doing last night?"
Ty: "Trying to find SpongeBob."
Ty: "My dresser is too big. I need a smaller dresser."
I can't imagine what would have happened if Neil had fallen asleep and not gone back in there to check on him.
Saturday Night: Tyrus and I were at Wal-Mart and we were checking out. Our Cashier was wearing a shirt that left nothing to the imagination as far as her chest goes. Tyrus was sitting in the cart and I must say that he looked extra "Big Boy" because I had just gotten his hair cut. I was busy putting the bags in the cart as she loaded each one. All of a sudden I hear Tyrus whisper out of the side of his mouth...
"Mama, look at her boobies." and then he proceeded to stare at them!
I quickly and quietly told him to "shhhh" and I don't think that she ever realized what was going on. I was literally laughing about it the whole way home and every time I told the story after that it made me giggle. The combination of his new hair cut, the way he was talking out of the side of his mouth, and the way that he stared at them afterwards was hilarious to me! I thought that we had like 10 more years before stuff like this started happening?
