Our C-section
I think that everyone should have a scheduled C-section. The past three days were so pleasent, for both myself and Neil, that I would suggest to anyone. Here is how it went...
Neil and I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am on Monday. I am a stickler for being on time to everything so I woke up at 3:30 am and Neil got up at 4:00 am. We ended up being 15 minutes early, but I was totally relaxed and that is all the mattered. The first thing that happened was they put me in Triage. This is basically a holding room where laboring mothers wait until they can be moved to their own room. I guess they didn't see a point in getting an entire room dirty so they just put us in there. I didn't mind.
The nurse came in and started my IV immediately and I was able to ask her politely if I could get my catheter after my spinal. YAY!! She said that was not a problem at all. She then took blood to make sure that I was okay for the surgery. That was the main reason that we had to come in so early. They had to wait for the results from the lab. So, then we just waited and waited and waited. I was lying in the bed and my poor Neil was sitting in a very uncomfortable chair next to me.
Around 7:00 the new nurse came in and told us that we were going early! Right after she left Dr. Gabriel poked her head in to make sure that we were okay. Then Alex, the drug guy, came to visit. When they all left to get ready I started to get really REALLY nervous. I had been fine the whole time until about ten minutes before I was supposed to walk to the OR. Luckily, we were delayed about 25 minutes and I was able to lye there while Neil scratched my back and calmed me down.
Next I got up and walked to the OR with the nurse and Neil. Neil was dropped off at the door to wait until the surgery started. I sat on the operating table and Alex went to work with the spinal. I was absolutely freezing in that room so the nurses wrapped me in steaming hot blankets - YUM. I felt one teeny tiny little prick in my back and then I couldn't feel my legs. It worked instantly so much so that they had to lift my legs to make me lye down. They then wrapped steaming hot towels around my arms and neck. I started to feel really nauseated and Alex gave me some medicine for it.
So, then I was just there and all this activity was going on around me. I closed my eyes and listened to everything and was totally at peace. I had no idea that Dr. Gabriel had even started the surgery. Then Neil came in and sat down behind me. He and Alex started talking about our camera and I listened to their conversation. It went by so fast. All of a sudden I felt a ton of pressure on my chest and then Dr. Gabriel said, "good morning baby girl"! I couldn't believe that she was here! I felt really great and awake and I could hear everything going on with Mary Lauren. Everyone was telling Neil congrats and how beautiful she was.
I was told that the operation was a long one because I had a lot of scar tissue from Tyrus, but it was entirely pleasant for me and went by really fast.

I am so glad this was a good experience. I love Dr Gabriel. She delivered Sabrina and Samantha too. Actually, the midwife did the delivery. Dr Gabriel supervised and coached with Peyton from the other side of the bed. Another Tingle baby....Wow...she's a beauty.

Love,
Bobbie
