Our Anesthesiologist
For those of you who do not know the anesthesiologist that gave me my epidural with Tyrus was terrible. He was grumpy and mean and really hurt me. He was also fussing at me the whole time because I was upset. Anyway, I had a totally different experience this time around. His name was Alex and he was as sweet as he could be the entire time. He sat by my head through the surgery and he and Neil really hit it off talking about cameras (while I was being sawed in half). Well, about 20 second after Mary Lauren was born he took our camera and stepped across the barrier and took the very first up close and personal pictures of our baby girl. He then came back and took our first portrait together. These pictures our precious to me and Neil because you can tell what Mary Lauren thought about being born...

I must also add that Alex was very good at his job. The spinal was only a tiny pinch of pain and he was constantly there asking me if I felt nauseated. When I did feel nauseated he held up a little bucket for me and rubbed my face until the medicine started working. It made a gigantic difference because I was able to stay comfortable and be conscious when Mary Lauren was brought into the world. The last thing he said to us was, "when you come back in two years ask for Alex!" We definately will! (If we come back in two years that is) :)
