16 Months!
My sweet little baby is 16 months old! I know that it is hard to believe, but I love him more everyday. I have been in a weird state of mind lately. I have found myself comparing Tyrus to other babies and I would get very discouraged if he wasn't doing exactly what they do. Just recently I decided to take a step back and really think about the big picture. I decided that I do not want to do this to him his entire life. However, I think that a lot of parents do this very same thing. We get so caught up in what our babies aren't doing that we forget what they ARE doing. Just so I remember for the rest of my life - here is some of what Tyrus is doing at 16 months old...
1. Every night after dinner I ask Tyrus if he is ready for a bath. He immediately starts walking to our bathroom saying "ba ba ba ba" and when he gets to the tub he turns around, looks at me, and lifts his arms so that I can take his shirt off.
2. When we ask Tyrus where his cup is he starts looking around for it and saying "ca ca ca" until he finds it.
3. If he sees something across the room while we are holding him he will point to it so that we will walk over to it and let him investigate it. His latest favorite is his humidifier that sits on top of his dresser and the balloons that he got in the hospital from Lucas and Mom and Pop.
4. Tyrus is a pro at crawling up the stairs and Neil has taught him how to come down them without us helping him. When he gets to the top he immediately turns around and starts crawling down backwards.
5. When I pick him up from Andria's we stand at the door and wave bye to everybody that is in the room. 25% of the time he waves and says "bye", but it sounds more like "bah" and then smiles the biggest smile in the world.
6. We have a leap frog "ABC" thing that sticks to our frig and plays the song. Tyrus will press the button and then start dancing to the music. Unfortunately, he didn't get his daddy's rhythm. It seems that he got the Johnson side of the family rhythm and anyone who has ever seen me or Shanna dance knows that it is non-existent.
7. We have a dreadful train that goes through Locust Grove every 30 minutes. Every time Ty and I catch it I will go "choo choo". The other day we were sitting there waiting for it to pass and he starting doing "choo choo".
8. Ty loves his shoes. If we ask him where his shoes are he will go and get a pair, sit down in front of us, and put his foot in the air so that we can put them on.
9. Ty has starting gives giant bear hugs, but they are very very rare. His favorite time to give these magnificent hugs is when we are in the shower together. He will walk up to me and just wrap his arms around my neck.
10. In the morning I am the first one up in the house. When I get ready to leave I will walk into Ty's room and wake him up. After I have changed his diaper I put him on the floor. He immediately walks to our bedroom and stands at the door and yells "Da Da". It is so funny because he usually wakes Neil up.
11. He pushes his little trucks around on the floor and makes his version of a truck sound, "vroom vroom".
12. Tyrus has a piggy bank that plays a song. The other day we were in our bedroom singing the song to him. He immediately walked to his bedroom and picked up the piggy bank because he knew that it was what played that song.
13. He also has a toy that shoots little balls into the air. The other day we were in our bedroom and I asked him where his ball was. He walked into his room and looked down the little tube that the balls come out of.
14. Tyrus loves to play Peek-a-boo. His favorite way to play is to stand in a doorway with half of his face in the room and half of his face out. He will stand there and play peek-a-boo with whoever is in that room. While he is doing it he has the biggest smile on his face.
15. When he sees Lu Lu he makes a sound that is like, "hey lu lu", but it is all run together. Neil and I think that he believes that all dogs are "hey lu lu". We were out in public the other day and he saw a dog and went "hey lu lu".
16. Ty can get off our bed all by himself. Our bed is very high off the ground. He gets on his belly and hangs off the edge until his feet touch the floor. Sometimes it takes a while because he scoots very slowly, but he can still do it.
17. He knows exactly what toys belong to Lu Lu. He will pick one up and then start walking towards her waving it at her.
18. He really likes to hug Lu Lu, but he still does it a little too hard for her sake.

I know that this post was probably a little boring with no pictures, but it was important for me to document what this little guy is doing right now. He amazes me everyday and, like I said above, I love him more and more every time I see him.
