It Was...
When we met Ty's teachers they gave us this book to read to the kids the night before. I thought it was a really great idea. They also took a picture of our family and said that they would hold onto it. If Tyrus ever has a bad day and misses us they will let him put the picture on his desk. Super sweet.

Here are all the supplies that Tyrus had to buy...
He also got a crappy haircut that we had to go back and have fixed. This is the after shot. It was a lot shorter than we wanted, but much better than before...
I also made him model his first day outfit...
His first lunch. I know he can't read yet, but I couldn't resist the love note...

Matchy Matchy
Mary has developed a small case of OCD lately. Everything must match. When I say match, I really mean, it must be the same color...
See? Blue shirt, blue shorts, blue ponytail, and blue "Rainbows"...
She even insists that her panties match. This has caused several arguements in the morning, but we are working it out...
Yes, she does have purple socks on. I convinced her that no one will see her socks because she will have her shoes on.

Rainbows
For some reason, Mary has always called a hair bow a "rainbow". It's one of those words that I dread her saying correctly one day. So, we call them rainbows too. She has a lot...
For the LONGEST time Mary wouldn't even let me brush her hair. Much less actually put something in her hair to get it out of her eyes. Now we can't even leave the house without a pretty "rainbow" in her hair...
She also insists that it matches her outfit. She is very stubborn about this and also knows what colors match. Therefore, we have a ton of colors to choose from. They make her so happy...
Now we are on the hunt for a cute bag for her to keep them in. For now a ziploc bag will do...

Great Wolf Lodge
Great Wolf Lodge is located in Charlotte. It was pretty much half way for both of us. It is a huge indoor waterpark that has a lodge attached to it. You can get everything you need right there on the property.
I took a Friday off of work and Tyrus and I headed out for the weekend. Neil and Mary had big plans as well. They were going on a date after their day of fun.
We arrived around 3:30. Shanna and Lucas arrived, no joke, 5 minutes before we did. We couldn't have timed it better. It was time for the fun to begin!
The time has come. Tyrus Tingle is starting Kindergarten in just a few days. I still can't believe it. I know I say it all the time, but I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. This milestone could not be just looked over like any other milestone. This needed to be celebrated in a big way. So, I called Shanna and told her that we needed to take advantage of having our boys so close together and take them on a trip. Just the four of us. She was all in. We decided on The Great Wolf Lodge.

This place was packed! The good thing was we only made that comment when we looked at the parking lot. Once you got inside you couldn't tell how many people were there. As always, it was wonderful too see Shan and Lucas again. The boys just pick up right where they left off. I guess it's a cousin thing. Tyrus was a little sweetie and offered to pull the suitcase up the hill. I will say though that he abandoned said suitcase half way and I had to carry it the rest of the way...
We splurged and got a room called "Kid Kamp". It had a separate bedroom for the boys that looked like a tent in the woods. They also had their own television. The only good thing about this was that they could watch their cartoons while Shanna and I watched grown up shows on the other television. They both got into the beds with us in the middle of the first night and the second night just slept with us to begin with.
They could hardly contain themselves once they got their swimsuits on...
The main part of the water park was indoors. However, they did have a small area outside. Shan and I loved this part because the pool was really shallow and the boys could go all around it by themselves. They had really good music playing, a bar, and chairs that we could sit in and watch the boys...
The outside pool also had this mountain in the middle with a wolf on top of it. Every 5 minutes or so the wolf would howl and then water would spray out of it. Lucas loved to listen for the howl and then run under the water. Tyrus...not so sure at first...
After we were outside for awhile we decided to take advantage of the concession stand and buy the boys a cold treat. Lucas was super excited...
It was as big as their heads...
Lucas is really starting to look just like Jeff to me! Also, there were a few times that Shan and I couldn't tell the boys apart. When their hair is wet it is the same color and the same length. So, when they are running ahead of us or running right beside us it took a second to figure out who was who. Very strange, but cool at the same time...
The picture below is of the giant bucket. It is a hit of the entire water park. Every 10 minutes or so you will hear this bell ringing and it means that the bucket is filling up with water and it will dump out all over the place when it gets full...
Like this...
Whenever the bell would start ringing you would see all these kids, and some adults, start running so that they would be directly below the bucket when the water came pouring down. Lucas was no exception...
This is Lucas right after the water dumped all over him telling Tyrus how cool it was...
After the water park, on the first day, we went back to the room and ordered a pizza. Then we had to go check out the arcade...
These are the only pictures of the arcade the I got, but Tyrus did go back the next day and he did walk away with two plastic trucks. One is purple and one is silver. They cost him 400 tickets. He only had about 150, but another little boy saw him looking at those trucks and handed Tyrus 225 tickets. It was so sweet. I told the boy he didn't have to do that, but he told me that he had already gotten what he wanted and wanted Tyrus to do the same. So, we had to go back and play a little more to when the rest of the tickets so that he could get his trucks.
